Multi-piece wheel
Wheels can be made of two or three basic components. The two-piece wheel consists of a wheel face (or center) and a rim (or barrel) and is secured together with rim screws that move around the wheel center. A sealing ring is applied to the joint to further join the parts.
The three-piece wheel takes the wheel width one step further by separating the wheel rims into two.
Forged wheels
Forged wheels are one of the most durable and lightest wheels. The rim is heated and exposed to pressures up to 900 bar, compressing the metal into a very thick, very robust wheel. Due to the tremendous compression generated by forging, the wheel is incredibly light and several times stronger than the same cast wheel.
Cast wheel
Cast wheels are made from pure aluminum melting. Pour the molten aluminum into the mold (or pull it into a vacuum) and form into the appropriate wheel shape. The aluminum is cooled and then machined, drilled and trimmed to the final wheel. The technique of casting a wheel is simpler and cheaper than other methods, but permeability can occur during the solidification of the molten metal.
Bead lock wheel
A bead lock allows a lower pressure to be used on the tire for greater traction without the risk of the tire slipping on the wheel. The high horsepower drag quad may also require bead lock protection to prevent the tire from rotating at the wheel when the clutch is thrown away. We’ve seen that happen before. If a puncture causes a tire to puncture, Beadlock will secure the tire to the wheel, allowing you to safely trail ride or win a race.
